THE ARTIST’S NOTES

The world we live in is a wild mixture of amazingly beautiful and sometimes tragic things. As much as we wish to avoid the tragic side of life, it often finds us and threatens to break us. During these times, you must not bow down to it; You must not allow it to break you. The key is to keep your heart and eyes open to the light because often through the darkest times blossom some of the most amazingly beautiful things.

With those thoughts I set out to paint The Boston (Strong) Terrier, a tribute to animals who have risen above their neglect and to the survivors of the 2013 Boston Marathon tragedy. As an animal lover who also enjoys distance running, I wanted to share my love and admiration for all those who continue to rise above the ashes of these events. The Boston (Strong) Terrier stands tall, never allowing anything to extinguish the fire within and always embracing hope that the good in the world will prevail. It is with this conviction that we commit ourselves to being part of the solution. In hopes that we can inspire and change lives, this painting was donated to DC area’s Lucky Dog Animal Rescue for silent auction with funds going directly to wonderful dogs in need of a loving home.
